Peter Girard
Senior Vice President | Caster Since 2012
Origin Story:
One of my favorite stories to tell. My career in PR started behind the corner of a coffee shop.
Fresh out of college, I managed a favorite local coffee shop that opened at 5 AM and was open late night, seven days a week. Staffing shortages at the time meant if someone called out, I was there, running front of house, back of house and somehow doing it all without even drinking coffee at the time.
It was there, while making a twice blended iced latte for a regular (insert Kimberly Lancaster) that everything changed. A casual conversation about recent travels turned into a discussion about the PR agency she had built from the ground up. I printed my résumé in the back office and handed it to her on the spot, latte in one hand, résumé in the other.
Fourteen years later, having held every position from account coordinator up the chain, I now proudly serve as Senior Vice President and Partner for Caster Communications with a deeper appreciation for coffee and a career built on one enduring belief: you never truly know you who you’re talking to. Every interaction matters, so make them count.
Why Clients Call Me:
To turn great products into stories the media actually want to cover.
Over the course of my career, I’ve worked to perfect the art of media relations, not just pitching, but placing the right product, solution, or innovation directly into the hands of media who evaluate devices on a daily basis.
Clients call on me when they have something real to show. A launch, a breakthrough feature, or even a new category play. Especially if they want it thoughtfully positioned, tightly messaged, and strategically introduced to the right audience.
As a sucker for word play and deep messaging, I often spend my time refining not just what a client is saying, but how they say it. Tinkering with headlines, strengthening angles, and ensuring technical nuance translates into media-ready clarity.
Off the Clock
A list of what I don’t do would likely be shorter here.
Off the clock you’ll most likely find me engaged in some form of physical activity. Anything and everything from strength training, flying my pocket drone at sunrise along the Rhode Island coast to capture my morning run, dashing to a rejuvenating yoga class, cruising around on my bike, or playing in the snow when we have it.
Otherwise, you’ll find me hanging out with my WFH supervisor (Levi, the black lab), cooking a delicious meal for me and my wife, gathering for a game night with friends, reading, or listening to whatever audiobook/podcast I am currently obsessed with.
Hot Take:
The dance moves are all the same. It’s just the song that changes.
PR may look different across industries, but the fundamentals – trust, relationships, timing, positioning, messaging – are universal. Master your ‘PR dance moves’ and you can groove to any beat.
