WaveForming is Now Publicly Available to All Trinnov Users

The revolutionary room optimization technology is accessible via a free software upgrade.

Paris, France and East Hampton, Connecticut, USA – August 15, 2024 – Trinnov Audio, a global leader in advanced audio processors for home theater, high-end audio and commercial cinemas, today announces that WaveForming™ is now publicly available on the Altitude line of audio processors. This room optimization technology allows audio professionals and enthusiasts to achieve unprecedented bass performance and consistency across the listening space. WaveForming will be a default feature of all future Altitude products and can be enabled on existing Altitude processers via a free software upgrade.

The product of more than seven years of research, WaveForming has become one of the most awarded new software products in custom electronics industry history. Trinnov has validated and refined WaveForming parameters using feedback from an 18-month Early Access Program. Now, this technology is available to all Altitude owners for the first time.

“Our experience with WaveForming has been nothing short of transformative, enhancing the precision and clarity of our audio systems,” says Gerard Brouwer, technical consultant for Procella Audio and WaveForming Early Access Program participant. “This innovation allows us to deliver an even more immersive and true-to-life audio experience to our customers, reinforcing our position as leaders in the quality audio industry.”

Real-World Room Optimization

WaveForming has evolved to encompass a variety of subwoofer layouts, including conventional layouts with as few as four subwoofers. This design flexibility makes WaveForming feasible for a wide range of spaces and budgets.

“Far more spaces are compatible with WaveForming than many people imagine,” says Arnaud Laborie, CEO of Trinnov Audio. “If you have at least four subwoofers, WaveForming will improve your audio experience. Trinnov is eager to see this technology applied in private spaces of all types and sizes.”

In support of the software’s public release, Trinnov has created free design tools to support WaveForming implementation:

Unique Approach, Customized Results

WaveForming employs immersive audio system design best practices and a proprietary algorithm to produce accurate low-frequency sound across the entire listening area, even in rooms with challenging acoustics. Using a unique active acoustics approach that eliminates room modes rather than attempting to minimize their effects, WaveForming achieves unprecedented bass uniformity, impact, clarity and detail.

Leveraging the WaveForming algorithm and optimal subwoofer placement for each room, integrators can consistently meet and exceed the highest standards for bass audio consistency. WaveForming controls include coverage uniformity performance benchmarks from CEDIA’s RP22 Immersive Audio System Design Recommended Practice, allowing users to model and verify system performance. The optimal subwoofer placement guidelines allow substantial flexibility, while the Altitude user interface combines intuitive controls with minute fine-tuning capabilities, allowing the experience to be further tailored to the end user’s physical environment and personal preferences.

“The unmatched processing power of the Altitude platform allows uncompromised signal processing and fully transparent outputs, offering the user complete control,” says Laborie.  “Thanks to this flexibility, WaveForming can enhance the most discerning audio enthusiast’s dream project.”

Getting Started

Trinnov dealers are encouraged to download the latest Altitude software update to begin implementing WaveForming now. Current Altitude owners with compatible audio systems should contact their dealer to enable WaveForming on their existing system and schedule calibration services.

CEDIA Expo attendees can experience WaveForming in person at a live demonstration in the Trinnov Booth, #2938. Arnaud Laborie will also offer an in-depth exploration of the acoustic principles behind WaveForming in the seminar “Room Mode Elimination and Low Frequency Extension with Active Acoustics,” taking place on September 4 as part of the CEDIA Expo Conference (registration required).
