Hey Google – abode enables Google Assistant Integration

Smart home voice control via Google Assistant now enabled on DIY security platform

Palo Alto, CA – January 4, 2017 – abode systems, a leader in DIY smart home security, today announces Google Assistant integration with the abode smart home security system. Google Assistant support is the latest in a long line of deep-integrations that enhance the abode system and enables users to use voice commands to control part of their smart home such as connect lights, switches, and wall plugs via the Google’s voice platform.

Through abode’s Google Assistant integration, customers can take advantage of Google’s natural language processing and use easy and succinct voice commands like, “Hey Google, turn on the living room lights” to be used when controlling devices integrated into the abode system.

Starting today, customers wishing to integrate Google Assistant with their abode home security setup will be able to control all lights, dimmers, and switches using their voice. Presently, the Google Assistant integration can only be used to control switches, dimmers, and lights and not used to arm or disarm the security system but abode is working on implementing that functionality in a future OTA update.

“We’re very excited to offer our customers Google Smart Home Integration for their abode system,” said Chris Carney, co-founder and CEO of abode systems. “Google Home support has been a highly requested feature and we’re proud to add another direct integration to help customers build their smart home security system their way.”

The Google Smart Home Integration is available today for existing abode customers and additional information is available via the integrations page of the abode web portal here: https://my.goabode.com/#/app/integrations

abode will continue to update the integration as Google adds more functionality to the Smart Home API. To see abode at CES, learn more about new announcements and learn more about the Google Assistant integration, visit Sands Booth 41717 (Z-Wave Pavilion) and say hi.
