Z-Wave Alliance Highlights Expanding Portfolio of Certified Z-Wave and Z-Wave Long Range Devices Across Europe ahead of Light + Building 2026
San Ramon, CA – March 3, 2025 9 AM PST – Z-Wave Alliance, the standards development organization dedicated to advancing the smart home and Z-Wave® technology, today announced continued growth of certified Z-Wave and Z-Wave Long Range (ZWLR) devices across the European market ahead of Light + Building 2026. As demand increases for secure, reliable, and locally controlled smart home and building automation systems, manufacturers are expanding their portfolios with products designed specifically for European frequencies and regulatory requirements.
The momentum reflects the strength of Z-Wave’s interoperable ecosystem and the flexibility of networks where Z-Wave mesh and ZWLR star topologies coexist within the same installation.
Installers and property managers across the EU are leveraging Z-Wave and ZWLR to deliver extended range, improved battery performance, and scalable device counts in both single-family and multi dwelling unit environments. The ability to combine traditional mesh networking with long-range star topology within a single network allows manufacturers to address diverse deployment scenarios, from dense urban apartments to expansive residential properties.
A tremendous example of how Z-Wave is being deployed can be seen in the heart of South London. The Enclave: Croydon stands as Europe’s largest modular residential development across 817 apartments; integrator Link It Solutions Ltd and manufacturer Nice delivered a fully networked smart living ecosystem powered by Z-Wave technology. Inside each apartment, residents benefit from lighting control through Nice Dimmer modules and climate management via Nice Heat control solutions alongside integrated smart energy metering, including Z-Wave enabled solutions from ecosystem partners such as AEOTEC, providing detailed energy monitoring and supporting greater efficiency. All systems are centrally managed and automated through the Nice’s Yubii Home Pro hub, with each resident accessing and controlling their environment via their own Yubii app. With nearly 4,000 Z-Wave devices working together throughout the building, the team has created a living environment that’s energy-efficient, intuitive, and built to evolve.
The following products represent a quick list of recently certified Z-Wave devices built for European markets. Additional country-specific devices can be found in the online Z-Wave Certified Product Catalog.
Aeotec expands its European-certified portfolio with EU frequency versions of the aërQ Temperature and Humidity Sensor 8, Door/Window Sensor 8, MultiSensor 8, and Water Sensor 8, all available in both Z-Wave and ZWLR configurations. These sensors are engineered for precision environmental monitoring and intrusion detection while benefiting from 800 series performance, S2 security, and long battery life. With support for both mesh and long-range network topologies, Aeotec’s lineup gives integrators the ability to tailor deployments to property size and signal requirements while maintaining seamless interoperability within the Z-Wave ecosystem.
