Staying on top of media relations in 2020
A new decade has arrived, and the Caster crew is back in action. We kicked off the New Year with our largest technology trade show, CES, and we are happy to share we have onboarded two new clients, Hogar Controls and Electrolux. Starting off 2020, the team is more ready than ever to tackle a new year in the world of PR by staying updated on 2020 media trends in order to secure client coverage and stay relevant in this ever-changing industry.
To find the right media for every story, Caster just started using a new media relations platform, MuckRack, which helps us discover the journalists who are the right fit for each of our technology clients. We use the detailed profiles in MuckRack to read about journalists and what they have previously written about: Knowing the history of the journalists we contact helps the team insure we are connecting with relevant authors and publications when pitching client news. Platforms like MuckRack are great tools for PR pros.
It’s important that we track all aspects of the pitching process and MuckRack provides a one stop shop for all thing’s media relations. MuckRack’s features make it easy to get to know journalists and form professional relationships down the road. Here at Caster, we find MuckRack useful for not only communicating with press contacts but for tracking, storing, and reporting the entire pitching process.
Social media is another a huge part of the media relations strategies of marketing and PR professionals in all industries. Here at Caster, we rely heavily on communication with press via social media; Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn are a great place to go for news updates, engaging with journalists, and watching trending topics. Some of the team started the New Year in Las Vegas at CES, and the in-office team watched social and this year’s #CES2020 hashtag to stay in-the-know about the news, what journalists were talking about, and pics of our clients from the show. Whether researching trending hashtags on Twitter, sharing client news on different platforms, or using Twitter as a form of conversation with journalists, social media has continued to play a steady role in Caster’s media relations strategies.
With a new year and decade ahead of us, the Caster team is eager to utilize our new platforms and ongoing media relations strategies to show-off our amazing clients. To stay updated on what’s new in the technology and smart home industries, follow us on Twitter @CasterComm!
